On March 20, CISD students had the opportunity to shine at the Region 10 Spanish Spelling Bee, with learners participating across all three grade levels. Wilson Elementary’s Elizabeth Castillo Perez, shown left, representing 3rd grade, clinched the championship title on the 11th round with the word "artimaña," showcasing remarkable spelling prowess. Her fellow Wilson Ranger, Micaela Ramos-Cho, shown right, competing in the 4th-5th grade category, secured 1st place on the 15th round with the word "laringitis." Notably, this marks the third consecutive year that CISD has claimed the top spot in the 4th-5th grade level. As a testament to her exceptional performance, Ramos-Cho will advance to the National Spanish Spelling Bee, scheduled for this summer in El Paso.
