Research (Applying For)
Guidelines
Those interested in conducting research with Coppell ISD must submit a research protocol if the research/evaluation project includes collecting and/or using data from CISD students, staff, or parents
Along with the research protocol, investigators are required to submit:
Each of their human subjects training certificate (NIH/CITI) for ethical purposes
Out-of-district applicants: The completed and signed application at this link. This is a required background check to conduct research with Coppell ISD staff and students. In-district applicants have already completed a background check for employment; therefore, in-district applicants are not required to submit the form.
Resume/vita of primary and secondary investigators
Any consent forms to be used with parents, staff (principals/teachers), or students (Templates can be found on the website)
Any finalized tools for data collection (i.e., observation tools/rubrics, surveys, tests, interview questionnaires, focus group questionnaires, or any other data-gathering tools)
A $25 application fee for non-CISD staff
Active consent for student participation must be obtained from parents/guardians prior to data collection, or before any identifiable student data can be released from central records
Individual students, staff, and schools may not be identified in any research/evaluation project. In addition, the district will also stay de-identified for purposes of reporting
Data collection is not allowed on testing days. Data collection is also not permitted from mid-March till the end of the school year due to state testing
Interim and final reports of the results of the study must be submitted to CISD
