The CISD Board of Trustees gathered for a workshop on Sept. 6 to dive into the district's Strategic Planning process and timeline. During the workshop, Trustees participated in a Strategic Planning Kick-Off Training, guided by Sheri Sides and Dr. Ken Helvey of N2Learning.
One of the highlights of the training was a deep dive into the essential role that the Board plays in the Strategic Planning process, including reaffirming the district’s current core values, mission and vision, You Matter. CISD is a part of the Community-Based Accountability System and reports annually on various pillars from the CBAS system. The Board of Trustees agreed to continue using the seven CBAS pillars as the framework for the Coppell 2023 Strategic Plan.
The timeline of the CISD Strategic Planning process is:
Aug. 21, 2023 - Kick-off Meeting and Pre-work with Superintendent’s Cabinet
Sept. 6, 2023 — Board Workshop
Oct. 19-20, 2023 — Strategic Planning Retreat
November 2, 2023 - Follow up meeting with Superintendent’s Cabinet
Fall/Winter of 2023 — Action Teams Work
February 1, 2024 — Final Strategic Planning Retreat
February or March 2024 — Strategic Plan Presented to the Board of Trustees
Periodic updates will be shared with the board and community at monthly board meetings.
The Strategic Planning Committee, composed of CISD parents, students, teachers, staff members and community representatives, will work together to shape the future of the district developing a strategic plan called Coppell 2030. CISD is committed to keeping the community in the loop every step of the way with updates on this process throughout the fall and winter. After the committee’s first retreat in October, Action Teams will be formed to craft action plans based on the committee's initial work. This collaborative effort will culminate in a robust, action-oriented Strategic Plan, to be formally shared with the CISD Board of Trustees in early 2024.
