Student Teachers & Student Observers

Coppell ISD is proud to support the development of future educators by offering student teaching and observation placements. All placements must go through the CISD Human Resources Department and follow the steps below.

Placement Request Process

All students requesting placement must complete the Student Teacher & Observer Placement Request Form.

The form outlines:

  • How to request placement

  • Required documentation

  • Next steps after submitting your request

Coppell ISD cannot process placement requests without verification from your university or certification program. This verification is required before we can begin the background check process.

All students must also submit a background check application through WinOcular. Background checks will not be processed until verification is received.

❗Requests sent directly to a campus or to a specific teacher will not be accepted.
❗All placement requests must go through CISD Human Resources.

Placement Availability

  • Placements are limited and offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Placement is not guaranteed, so early submission is highly encouraged.

Request Deadlines

Student Teachers

  • Fall Semester: May 1

  • Spring Semester: December 1
    Requests for student teaching must be submitted the semester before. Current semester requests are not accepted.

Student Observers

For current semester placements, please note the following deadlines. 

  • Fall Semester: October 1

  • Spring Semester: March 1

Coppell ISD does not offer summer placements for student teachers or observers.
