Action and Consent Items
Trustees approved the adoption of 2020-2021 Campus Improvement Plans;
The Board approved the adoption of an Emergency TASB Advocacy Resolution;
Trustees approved the adoption of a Resolution regarding Coppell ISD Legislative Priorities;
The Board approved a Resolution on Investment Brokers 20-21; the Annual Review of Current Performance on Investments and a resolution regarding annual review of investment policies CDA (Legal) and CDA (Local) pursuant to Texas Government Code Chapter 2256, Section 2256.005(e); and
Trustees approved the Budget Amendments for September 2020; the Financial Report for August 2020, and the Quarterly Investment Report for Period Ending August 31, 2020.
Highlights and Awards
Several recent CISD achievements were highlighted at the meeting, including:
Returning to school in person September 8;
Campus Virtual Curriculum Nights; and
High School Debate National Success.
During the Awards portion of the meeting, Trustees recognized:
Recognizing CHS Art students for contributions to district building and statewide campaign, including CHS Senior Ishita Sisodia for painting an oil portrait of retired Assistant Superintendent Vonita White to hang in the CISD Administration Building, which is named after Ms. White, and CHS Sophomore Ashley Zhang, who was among the winners of the 2021 Don’t Mess with Texas Calendar Contest;
Superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt for being selected as NSPRA 2020 Superintendents to Watch;
CISD for being selected as Recipient of the 2020 Texas Association of School Boards Risk Management Fund Excellence Award; and
Trustee Nichole Bentley for completing the Leadership TASB Program and earning the Master Trustee distinction.

Strategic Design Update
Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services Kristen Streeter, Executive Director of Teacher and Learning Dr. Deana Dynis and Executive Director of Communications and Community Engagement Angela Brown shared an update on the district’s Strategic Design efforts. This update included a video on the CISD Strategic Design Advocacy Day Sept. 24, as well as updates on the core values of redefining success, great teaching, collective engagement and, the focus for the 2020-2021 school year, authentic relationships.
Board of Trustees Discussion and Report Items
Trustee Leigh Walker shared an update on the Coppell ISD Education Foundation. Trustee Anthony Hill gave an update on the North Texas Area Association of School Boards (NTAASB), School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) and Strategic Design Advocacy Committee. Trustee Tracy Fisher shared a Legislative update and and an update on the PTO President's Meeting. Board Vice President David Caviness, gave an update on the Reopening Task Force.
