Coppell ISD Board Briefs are highlights of select items from the CISD Board of Trustees meetings.
Board Action and Consent Items Highlights
The Board approved Canyon Ranch Elementary School as the name of the district’s 11th elementary school, which currently is under construction in Valley Ranch and set to open in Fall 2019;
Trustees approved the 86th Legislative Priorities for CISD;
The Board approved Pride Performance Consulting, LLC, as the district’s Commodity Cooperative Facilitator;
Trustees approved moving TASB insurance reimbursements for 2018 hail damage into Fund 618; and
The Board approved the Budget Amendments for November 2018 and the October 2018 Financial Report.
District Highlights & Awards
Several recent CISD achievements were highlighted at the meeting, including:
Veterans Day Celebrations at CISD Schools;
Valley Ranch Teacher Rachael Piatt selected as Good Morning Texas' "Teacher of the Month" for October;
CMS North "Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat" Food Drive; and
New Tech High @ Coppell Inside Scoop Career Fair.
During the Awards portion of the meeting:
The CHS Girls' Cross Country team was recognized for winning State; and
KCBY-TV was recognized for its recent receipt of a National Emmy Award.


Superintendent Discussion and Report Items
Community Based Accountability Systems Update
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction Dr. Angie Applegate presented an update on the TPAC (Texas Public Accountability Consortium) organization and reviewed some of the pieces within building a structure of a community-based accountability system within the district.
District Safety Update
Director of Student and Staff Services Jennifer Villines presented an update on safety and security within the district.
Boundary Realignment Update
Associate Superintendent Sid Grant presented an update on the district’s Boundary Realignment process, which included announcing the dates of the community forums in January, which will be held on January 10, 2019, at CHS9 at 6:30 p.m. and via Facebook Live on January 16, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.
Board of Trustees Discussion and Report Items
Trustees also shared a Legislative update and reported on Exceptional Governance, an update on the North Texas Area Association of School Boards (NTAASB) and the TASB Risk Management Fund Quarterly Meeting, an update on the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), and an update on the Bond Oversight Committee.
