Board of Trustees Meeting Summary 

  • Superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt and team provided an overview of the district’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and updated the board members on topics including educational continuity and daily operating procedures that are occurring during this closure.

  • Trustees approved a resolution to continue paying all regular district employees — contractual and non contractual, salaried and non salaried — during this emergency closing. You can view a copy of the full resolution here.

  • The Board approved a resolution that allows the Superintendent to approve purchases of equipment or services necessary for the continuing of distance learning or other essential school activities during this emergency closure.

  • Trustees also approved giving Dr. Hunt the authority to hire applicants during this emergency closure, which is essential to maintaining our dedication to educational excellence in Coppell ISD. The Board usually grants the Superintendent this authority in the summer months to ensure CISD can hire qualified applicants quickly. The district wants to continue in its preparation for the 2020-2021 school year as normally as possible during this time.

  • The Board also approved a resolution regarding the First Financial Group 403(b) retirement plan.

  • Trustees also voted to postpone the May 2 Board of Trustees election to November 3, 2020.

  • The Board also approved the final payment to Northstar Builders Group for Canyon Ranch Elementary.
