Action and Consent Items
Trustees approved 2020-2021 school year calendar modifications, which includes:
Extending the first day of school to Monday, August 17, 2020;
Removing the two early dismissal days in the first semester on October 8 and December 18;
The district’s previously announced Professional Development/Staff Work Day on October 9 will now be a regular school day;
The Board approved a Resolution to affirm the UIL’s suspension of pre-participation physicals for the 2020-2021 school year;
Trustees approved House Bill 3 Goals and Implementation Plan for Coppell ISD;
The Board approved the the purchase of attendance credit to reduce excess
local revenue pursuant to the Texas Education Code, Chapter 49, Subchapters A
and D, and rules adopted by the commissioner of education as authorized by the
TEC §49.006. The purpose of this agreement is to enable the district to reduce its local revenue level to a level not to exceed the level established under TEC, §48.257 for the school year;
Trustees gave approval to Revisions to Election Order for Board of Trustees
Election on November 3, 2020;
The Board approved revisions of the Board Operating Procedures Manual; and
Trustees Board approved the Budget Amendments for July 2020 and the Financial Report for June 2020 .
District Highlights/Awards
Several recent CISD achievements were highlighted at the meeting, including:
Student Athletes Receive Academic All-State Honors; and
CISD Student Places 3rd in 2020 DART Student Art Contest; and
Virtual Summer Professional Learning Conference June 24 and June 25; and
Human Resources: Summer Hiring and New Employee Orientation.
During the Awards portion of the meeting, Trustees recognized:
The Coppell High School Band Percussion Winner of 2020 Pas International Percussion Ensemble Competition;
Seven students who achieved four Career and Technical Education (CTE) certifications; and
Metrocrest Services, Coppell Cares and Assistance League of Coppell for serving CISD students and meeting the needs of our community.
