Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Services

Children with disabilities are eligible for special education services from ages 3 through 21. Coppell ISD serves children with auditory and/or visual impairments from birth.  Parents of children with suspected developmental delays from birth to 36 months should contact one of the following Early Childhood Intervention Programs (ECI):

  • The Warren Center currently provides ECI assessment and services for all eligible Birth to 3 year children for families living within the Coppell ISD boundaries in Dallas County.
    Contact information: 971-490-9055

  • The ECI of North Central Texas provides ECI assessment and services for all eligible Birth to 3 year children for families living within the Coppell ISD boundaries in Denton County.
    Contact information: 817-446-8000

Coppell ISD offers evaluation services for young children to support their developmental needs. Referrals are primarily submitted by parents, physicians, and Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) agencies for children who reside within the Coppell Independent School District boundaries. If you suspect your child may have developmental delays or a disability, please contact our Intervention Services team at 214-496-6955 to begin the Child Find referral process or you can submit a direct referral on our Child Find Intake form and someone from our Early Childhood Assessment Team will contact you about next steps.  We are here to support your child's growth and success!

Transition Process from Early Childhood Intervention to School

If your child is currently receiving Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) services, your service providers will begin discussing the transition process with you at least six months before your child’s third birthday. A transition meeting will be scheduled approximately 120 days before your child turns three. During this meeting, your ECI Service Coordinator will invite a representative from Coppell ISD to join the discussion. The evaluation process and early childhood program options will be reviewed.

Around 90 days before your child’s third birthday, a referral to Coppell ISD should be made by either ECI or the parent. When an official referral has been made, you will have the opportunity to meet with our Early Childhood Assessment Team to discuss your child and potentially schedule any necessary assessments. Once the assessments are completed, an Admission Review Dismissal (ARD) team will determine if your child has a disability and if there’s a need for specially designed instruction. We are committed to supporting a smooth and collaborative transition for your child and family.
