Highlights and Awards

Several recent CISD achievements were highlighted at the meeting, including:

  • CISD Virtual Holiday Card Contest Winner Valley Ranch Elementary 5th grade student Aditri Amerish;

  • CISD Super Teachers Model Great Teaching;  and 

  • Great Employees Matter (GEM) Recognition.


District Awards
During the Awards portion of the meeting, Trustees recognized:

  • Coppell High School only school in U.S. with two 2020 National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) Pacemaker finalists — The Sidekick and KCBY; and 

  • Coppell Boys place 5th at State Cross Country Championship and Senior Evan Caswell takes 8th in State.

Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Angie Applegate shared an update on Student Experience at CISD, including information on the Panorama Survey data, NWEA Map results and other factors that speak to the student experience at CISD. 

COVID-19 Update 
Superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt and Executive Director of Communications and Community Engagement Angela Brown shared an update on COVID-19 at CISD. 

Bond Projects Update 
Chief Operations Officer Dr. Greg Axelson shared an update on the 2016 Bond Projects. 

Board of Trustees Discussion and Report Items 
Board President Nichole Bentley shared an update on the December 7 Board Workshop Recap and the Budget. Trustee Tracy Fisher shared an update on the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board and Legislative Report. Trustee Anthony Hill shared an update on the Strategic Design Committee and Coppell Chamber Education Committee - President Benltey shared an update on the Inclusion Committee and Safety & Security Committee.
