Community Based Accountability System (CBAS) is an accountability system based on seven pillars.
Rather than rely on just one test, one day with the STAAR tests, we take a holistic approach and look at many academic, operational and behavioral data points looking for achievement and growth. While data from MAP scores, TELPAS, PSAT, SAT and ACT scores and even STAAR and EOC tests are important to measure growth and success, some of the data points that can't be determined from a test include number of service and volunteer hours, leadership opportunities for our elementary and secondary learners, college admissions, graduation rates, student participation in Career and Technical Education (CTE) course pathways, achievement of CTE certificates and number of students participating K-12 in clubs and organizations.
We also look at extracurricular activities and student engagement in this area. This means participating in clubs, athletics, fine arts and more. Success can and should look different for everyone, and so should the measurements of our students achievement.
