Board Action and Consent Items Highlights 

  • The Board approved Longhorn Bus Sales as the vendor to supply six (6) International 77 passenger and four (4) 54 passenger student school buses at a total cost of $989,470.00. with the funds coming from the 2016 voter-approved Bond; 

  • Trustees approved Lone Star Furnishings and Virco as the vendor to supply the furniture for Coppell High School at a total cost of $1,006,247.39, with the funds coming from the 2016 voter-approved Bond; 

  • The Board approved revision to Board Policies:

    • FDA (Local) - Interdistrict Transfers — FDA(LOCAL) Policy April 2020.docx, 

    • FDB (Local) - Intradistrict Transfers — FDB(LOCAL) Policy April 2020.docx, and 

    • CDC (Local) - Crowdfunding — CDC(LOCAL) March 2020 Draft.docx; 

  • Trustees approved the comprehensive technology assessment and and approved True North Consulting Group at a cost not to exceed $161,000 to perform the assessment;

  • The Board also approved 

    • The Instructional Materials Allotment (IMA) request,

    • Allotment and TEKS Certification, 2020-2021,

    • The TEA Foreign Exchange Student Waiver,

    • The Resolution for Schools and Libraries Universal Services (E-Rate) for 2020-2021, and

    • The Interlocal agreement with Tarrant County Purchasing Cooperative — Tarrant Co.InterlocalQuestionnaire-Agreement.pdf, and  

  • Trustees Board approved the Budget Amendments for April 2020 and the Financial Report for March 2020.

Several recent CISD achievements were highlighted at the meeting, including:

  • CHS Sidekick and The Round-Up Receive National Accolades;

  • CISD Related and Instructional Services Staff Publish Research & Author Book;

  • SHAC 21-Day Challenge with Medical City Healthcare;

  • CISD Virtual Campaigns for Human Resources and Kindergarten Registration; and

  • CISD 60th Birthday Virtual Bash Activities

Chief Financial Officer Diana Sircar shared an update on the 2020-2021 Budget Planning process

HB 3 Reading Academies

Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Angie Applegate and Director of Literacy Dr. Anita de la Isla gave an update on the HB 3 Reading Academies

Community Based Accountability System 

Dr. Angie Applegate and Executive Director of Teaching and Learning Dr. Deana Dynis shared an update on the Community Based Accountability System

Board of Trustees Discussion and Report Items 

Board President Thom Hulme gave a Continuing Education Credit Report on the Trustees and read into the minutes the status of training requirements for CISD trustees.  He also shared an update on the Bond Oversight Committee. Trustee Anthony HIll gave updates on the TASB Risk Management Fund Board (February and April Meetings), North Texas Association of School Board (NTAASB) and TEA Board of Trustee Advisory Council. Trustee Tracy Fisher gave an update that included the Legislative Report, Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board and the Legislative Advisory Council (LAC). Trustee Leigh Walker shared an update on the Coppell ISD Education Foundation and PTO President's Meeting.
