Message from the Superintendent

November 19, 2024

Dear CISD Community,

I want to share important leadership updates regarding Wilson Elementary and Denton Creek Elementary for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.

Pinkerton Principal Mandy Sweeney will transition to serve as the principal of Wilson Elementary starting in the 2025-2026 school year. Mrs. Sweeney is excited to continue leading the International Baccalaureate (IB) program as it moves to Wilson and is committed to maintaining the special culture of both Pinkerton and Wilson as the transition takes place. She looks forward to collaborating with staff, families, and students to ensure a seamless move and continued academic excellence, which are such important components of both schools.

Wilson Elementary Principal Cooper Hilton will transition to a district administration role as Director of Governmental Relations and Strategic Initiatives for CISD starting in the 2025-2026 school year. This move represents a natural opportunity for Mr. Hilton’s professional growth and aligns with future career aspirations that he has been considering for some time. Mr. Hilton is committed to supporting Wilson, Pinkerton, Denton Creek and the CISD community during this transition.

Dr. Yanet Cardoza will continue to serve as the principal of Denton Creek Elementary for the 2025-2026 school year. She is looking forward to welcoming the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) students from Wilson Elementary and ensuring a smooth transition for all students involved. Dr. Cardoza is committed to blending the best of both school cultures while maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment.

As we navigate these transitions, our focus remains on creating a seamless experience for our students, teachers and staff, and families. We are confident that with strong leadership at all levels, these changes will lead to strong school communities committed to welcoming new students, teachers and staff, and families.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to ensure the continued success of all our students and schools.

Sincerely,

Dr. Brad Hunt

Superintendent
