Career and Technical Education (CTE) Courses
Coppell High School, Coppell High School Ninth Grade Campus, and New Tech High @ Coppell offer learners the opportunity to participate in Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses designed to allow learners experiences in or the opportunity to nurture a passion for a particular career cluster. Learners may enroll in courses at all three campuses which focus on STEM, Public Services, and Business fields. In these courses, learners are given a great deal of choice in how they demonstrate their understanding of the content. They are expected to make connections and apply their learning in “real-world” situations facing practitioners in that field, and in many cases, have the option of earning an industry certification. Please see the course guides available on the campus’ websites for more information.
New Tech High @ Coppell
New Tech High @ Coppell is the high school of choice in CISD. NTH@C is a campus devoted to Project/Problem Based Learning (PBL) as its sole instructional methodology. NTH@C learners must meet additional graduation requirements including a minimum of 12 hours of dual credit, a job shadowing and internship experience, 10 hours of community service a year, and a Capstone Project and Presentation. While there are no GT courses offered at NTH@C, all course work is weighted at the Honors or AP level due to the rigorous instruction in a PBL environment.
Dual Credit and Concurrent Enrollment
Through a partnership with Dallas County Community Colleges and Texas Woman’s University (New Tech only), Coppell ISD offers gifted learners the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school through a dual credit enrollment program. Learners may select from an approved list of dual-credit courses. Learners are not required to pay tuition or fees for Dual Credit courses through our partnership with Dallas County Community Colleges, but they are responsible for purchasing required textbooks and/or supplies. Learners enrolling in Dual Credit courses through our partnership with Texas Woman’s University are subject to minimal tuition and fees as well as being responsible for purchasing required textbooks and/or supplies. Tuition and fees always apply for concurrent enrollment courses through either partner.
