Valley Ranch Elementary’s 3rd-5th grade students have taken Halloween treats to the next level in their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) class, creating spooky candy-delivery systems that are sure to impress! Under the guidance of STEAM teacher Kelly Beach, these young inventors designed Rube Goldberg machines that deliver a piece of candy in spectacular fashion. Each project required students to use at least three of the six simple machines — lever, screw, wheel and axle, wedge, pulley and inclined plane. Their creativity shined through in each design, proving that a "sweet tooth" and a little engineering can make a perfect combination.
