Welcome to Laura Flynn, approved by the Board of Trustees earlier this week as the new Principal for Mockingbird Elementary.Mrs. Flynn comes to Coppell ISD from her assistant principal role at Corbell Elementary in Frisco ISD (FISD). Prior to campus administration, she served FISD in a district leadership position as a math instructional specialist for 7 years- helping to develop curriculum, coach teachers, and lead professional development. She taught accelerated reading and math to fifth-grade students and was also a first-grade classroom teacher in FISD, Virginia Beach City Public Schools, and Richardson ISD. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Learning and Development from The University of Texas in Austin and holds a Master’s Degree from Lamar University. The 2016-2017 school year will be Mrs. Flynn’s 18th year in education.
Fourteen student athletes signed their letter committing to continue their athletic participation at the college level. Students were represented in the sports of: Baseball (3), Boys Soccer (6), Cross Country/Track & Field (1), Girls Basketball (1), Girls Soccer (1), Girls Wrestling (1), and Tennis (1). Great job!
The Academic Decathlon team from CHS finished in Second Place last weekend at the UIL State Championship AcDec tournament. The team scored the highest score in school history. All nine team members earned $800 each for their Second Place finish and qualified to compete in the Online E-Nationals against 40 other teams in the US. Daniel Koh, Shashwath Murthy, Ashray Gautam, Matthew Smith, Federica Ferrari, and Taddie Cook had notable performances!
