WELCOME!! We believe athletics is an opportunity to develop the whole character of a student, not just the athletic ability. We strive to use training and competition as a means to teach character, integrity, discipline, and a strong work ethic. Our desire is that Wrangler Athletes would not only be the top athletes in the district, but also be the leaders of the school; therefore we have high expectations for the behavior of our athletes in the classroom and on the court/field. Being a part of the Wrangler athletic program is a privilege that can be lost if a student chooses not to follow the expectations of the program. We highly encourage every athlete to compete in a minimum of two sports during the year in order to take full advantage of the athletic and team experience. We look forward to partnering with you to provide the best experience for your student.
Volleyball and Basketball are both sports where tryouts are to be held. It is the coach's discretion as to how many make the team based on skills that are scored over a 4 day period. Each sport team is then divided into three teams: A, B, and C. There are no cuts in cross country and track, although not everyone may be involved in a meet.
Football is offered in the fall and there are no tryouts. If your son decides to play football and can meet the practice and game expectations, he is on the team. Tryouts for basketball start immediately after football. It is the coach's discretion as to how many are on the team which will be broken into three teams: A, B, and C. Anyone that does not play football and does not make the basketball team is highly encouraged to run cross country. After the basketball/cross country season is over, track season will officially begin. Everyone will participate in track workouts, however, not everyone will participate in a track meet.
Note to parents: When your child is not involved with the sport that is in season, they will be involved with off-season. Off-season will be focused on developing strength, endurance, and specific skills for the upcoming season.
