Janelle Bence- Global Issues
College: Vassar. 5th year at NTH@C. Yoga enthusiast
Janelle Bence is in her 17th year of teaching. She has vast experience with English Language Learners and in both urban and suburban school districts. Janelle is an active teacher-leader on the national level of National Writing Project (NWP) and has presented at many national and international conferences such as NWP, NCTE, AP, NewTech, and SITE. She is both thrilled and humbled to serve on the NWP Board of Directors. Her passion is teaching writing and offering her learners connected authentic learning experiences where they have opportunities to find their voices to make meaningful changes in the world.
Daniel Bess- AP Biology, Earth Space Sciencedbess@coppellisd.com
Mr. Bess has been teaching science for the past 8 years. This will be his third year at New Tech. He is a “born and raised” Texan, hailing from a small town in north central Texas called Iowa Park. As a TCU alumnus he bleeds purple. He graduated in 2007 from TCU with a Bachelor of Science and again in 2008 with a Masters in secondary science education. When not teaching, he enjoys copious amounts of ultimate Frisbee, board games, reading, and quality time with his friends, family and his border collie, Brodie.
Danae Boyd- Global Issues: AP Human Geography, Pre-AP World Geography
This will be Mrs. Boyd's 21st year in education and beginning her fourth year at NTH@C and her 7th year working in the PBL setting. She graduated from Friends University majoring in Social Science Education and minoring in English. When not facilitating AP Human Geography or Pre-AP World Geography in Global Issues she enjoys spending time with her husband of 25 years, Mike and her two daughters Devin and Lauren.
Norrie Brassfield- Spanish 2
Norrie Brassfield is entering her seventh year at New Tech High@Coppell teaching Spanish 2. She is originally from Utah and graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Spanish. She studied for a time in Madrid, Spain. While raising her 5 children, she taught pre-school, ran a summer camp for teen-age girls and was a CISD substitute. She was excited to discover project based learning when her daughter attended New Tech and she was thrilled to become a member of the faculty and encourage other learners. She enjoys reading, waterskiing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Carolyn Daniel- Spanish I
AP Spanish Language and Culture
Sra. Daniel is our Spanish I and AP Spanish Language and Culture facilitator and our Advanced Academics Coordinator. This is Sra. Daniel's 6th year at New Tech and her 17th year teaching. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Spanish from the University of Texas at Arlington and her Master's in Spanish from SLU in Madrid, Spain. She is a huge sci-fi fantasy fan and her hobbies include reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, camping and traveling with her family. She loves animals and has two dogs, a boxer named Delilah and an Australian Shepherd mix named Henry.
Mark Granado - Spanish 3, NTC
Señor Granado is starting his 15th year of teaching, 5th year at NTH@Coppell teaching Spanish III and NTC, having taught at Lamesa High School in Lamesa and at Creekview High School in Carrollton. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Spanish. Señor Granado enjoys playing basketball, golfing and spending time with his wife Heather, his 5 kids, and his 4 dogs.
Clay Greenwalt- Pre AP and AP World Studiescgreenwalt@coppellisd.com
This is Clay Greenwalt’s third year of teaching, and he co-teaches World Studies classes. He grew up in Shamrock, TX, and graduated from Abilene Christian University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in English Education. He is currently working on his Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Texas at Arlington. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Greenwalt enjoys playing sports, reading, watching movies, and watching the Houston Astros play. Mr. Greenwalt is very excited about being back at school and is looking forward to a great year at New Tech.
Jennifer Greever- Capstone, Job Shadowing, Internship, NTC, and Leadership
Jennifer Greever is in her seventh year facilitating at NTH@C. Jennifer is responsible for Capstone, Job Shadowing/Internship, NTC, and Team Leadership. She previously facilitated Virtual Business and Communication. Jennifer grew up in Grapevine, Texas and went on to attend Texas A&M University. Graduating in 2007, she received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Human Resources and minor in Business. She spent three years working as a Marketing Coordinator for an industrial company in Dallas before her desire to work with youth led her to get her teaching certification. Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband of nine years, Andrew, and their son Tate, shopping, and traveling.
Karri Hayford- School Health Clinic
Nurse Karri enters her 2nd year at New Tech as the School Nurse. She has been a nurse for 36 years. This is her 9th year in school nursing. She has worked all areas of the hospital and in the insurance industry. She earned her Associate of Science in Nursing at Weber State University in Ogden, UT and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Magnum cum Laude from University of Texas Arlington. Nurse Karri has a grown daughter and son-in-law with 3 grand-dogs; and a son and soon to be daughter-in-law with 1 four legged grand-dog. She and her husband have been married for 32 years and they have 2 four legged girl's named Roxy and Greta at home. They are both very active in Lewisville & Argyle Lions Clubs. Nurse Karri is thrilled to be working with her new family at New Tech.

University of Pennsylvania Years in education: 4 Years at New Tech: 0 (first year) Prior to teaching, worked in museums in Philadelphia including the National Constitution Center and the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. When not in the classroom, enjoy exploring cities with my wife Kim, reading, and cooking.
Anthony Hufford- Algebra 2 & LLC
I grew up in Gatesville, Texas, and went to school in Crawford, Texas. I earned my B.S. of Mathematics at the University of North Texas before spending my first year teaching at The Colony HS with Lewisville ISD. I am beginning my 3rd year here at NTH@C, and I am so excited for the coming year!
Laura Hynson- Special Education Facilitator
Laura Hynson grew up in east Texas and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a major in sociology and a minor in psychology. Post graduation Mrs. Hynson completed her secondary certification requirements. This will be her 10th year in public education and 3rd year at New Tech as a facilitator. Mrs. Hynson also worked in the corporate world for 4 years. She spends most of her free time with her two children, dog and her husband of 22 years.
Lashaumbe Jernigan- Geometry
Lashaumbe Jernigan is in her fifth year as part of the NTH@C staff as Geometry Facilitator and 8th year in education. Originally from Louisiana, Mrs. Jernigan earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Louisiana State University and M.B.A. From University of Phoenix. Mrs. Jernigan sponsors America 4 Africa Club. In her spare time, she enjoys family time with her husband and three children.
Michael Kennington- Counselor, LLC Co-Advisor
Mr. Kennington is entering his first year as the counselor at NTH@C. He holds a M.Ed. in School Counseling from Lamar University and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Arkansas. Mr. Kennington co-sponsors the Learner Leadership Council and the Basketball Club. He is married and has two young children.
Kolby Kerr- TWU English Composition I and II AP Literaturekkerr@coppellisd.com
Kolby Kerr is in his seventh year at NTH@C. He's been teaching the senior English courses for every graduating class at New Tech. A native of the Dallas area, Mr. Kerr received a bachelor's degree in English from Wheaton College in Illinois and an MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University. Mr. Kerr is married to his high school sweetheart Emily and has two boys, Beckett and Samuel. When he isn't teaching, he is playing with his sons or watching the Rangers game.
Tamera Mooney - Digital Portfolio 2, Photography
Tamera Mooney has been teaching art for 22 years. Teaching high school aged learners has been her passion for over ½ of those years. Mrs. Mooney earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts at UNT. She has taught Art 1, Ceramics II and III, Darkroom Photography and Art History. She is part of the team that facilitates the Digital Portfolio II classes. Mrs. Mooney also facilitates the Photography II and III class. She has been married to her husband Dean for 16 years and they have a 6-year-old son, Connor.
Brandy Osterberger- AP Calculus and Instructional Mathematics Coach
Brandy Osterberger has been growing young mathematicians for the past twelve years with the last eight at NTH@C as a mathematics educator. Mrs. Osterberger has taught numerous levels of secondary math ranging from 7th grade through AP Calculus. Mrs. Osterberger is currently the instructional math coach, as well as the AP Calculus facilitator. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education, magna cum laude, from Oklahoma Baptist University. Mrs. Osterberger has 2 sons and a little girl. Mrs. O loves this family that we sometimes refer to as a job.
Charlie Perryman- Government, Economics, & Current Events
Charles Perryman graduated from Coppell High School in 2003 and Texas State University in 2007 where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science and History. In 2013, he completed his Master’s degree at the University of North Texas in Educational Leadership. When he is not facilitating he can be found enjoying time with his family or training for triathlons and mountaineering expeditions. Mr. Perryman is the 2012 Coppell ISD Teacher of the Year and is beginning his eighth year at New Tech. He is excited to be facilitating senior Government, Economics, and Current Events while also serving as an Instructional Coach and Outdoor Adventure Club Co-Sponsor at NTH@C.
Jason Pierce- Audio/Video, Yearbook
I’m from Lexington, KY and have been teaching for 6 years at New Tech. I am married with three children. I enjoy playing basketball, watching movies, woodworking, and finding old, quirky things. I also enjoy almost all things of British culture.
Zane Porter- AP English Language and Composition, Pre-AP American Studieszporter@coppellisd.com
Mr. Porter went to high school in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He attended Wayland Baptist University (B.A. and M.A.), North Carolina State University (Ed. Cert.), and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.A.). This is Mr. Porter’s eighth year as an English teacher and second year as a facilitator at NTH@C. Mr. Porter is facilitating Advanced Placement English Language and Composition and Pre-AP American Studies this year. When not at school, Mr. Porter may be found at the golf course, the pool, the Texas Rangers game, or Six Flags with his wife and three kids. Mr. Porter’s tutoring sessions are from 8:00-8:35 a.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Aviel Porzio- Pre-Calculus
Mr. Porzio graduated from Southern Oregon University with a Bachelors of Science in Physics. He relocated to Dallas from the west coast to complete his certification at Highland Park High School. Mr. Porzio was excited to discover project based learning at NTH@C, where he took the opportunity to develop Statistics, Calculus, and Pre-Calculus classes. He enjoys reading, snowboarding, flying airplanes, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Ayesha Station- Principles of Business, Marketing and Finance Entrepreneurship and Retailing
Ayesha Station is starting her third year of teaching and will be facilitating Entrepreneurship, Principles of Business, Marketing, & Finance, and Retailing & Etailing. Ms. Station will also be the sponsor of the DECA organization. She is originally from Omaha, NE, where she taught Marketing for the past two years and sponsored DECA. Ms. Station has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, a Master’s in Public Administration, and a Master’s of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She has two daughters, 17 and 5. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending times with her girls.

Nicholas Villacci- Fundamentals of Computer Science, Video Game Design, App Design
Nicholas Villacci was born and raised in Irving, Texas - Graduating from Nimitz High School. He has a Bachelors degree in IT Management from UTA and is pursuing a degree in Accounting. Mr. Villacci served in the U.S. military and has started two companies. He taught in Irving and is honored to be a facilitator in Coppell. In his free time, you can find Mr. Villacci on the soccer field, spending time with his daughter and traveling the world (his next adventure will be diving in the Philippines).
Garrett Voelker- AP/ World Studiesgvoelker@coppellisd.com
Garrett Voelker graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2007 with a Bachelors in History. He received his Masters in Education from Southern Methodist University in 2009. In 2010, Mr. Voelker joined the New Tech team of educators, where he has facilitated World Geography for two years, and World History for four years. Mr. Voelker currently lives with his lovely wife Andrea Yang, daughter Emma, and Rocco, his Maine Coon cat. When Mr. Voelker is not facilitating projects, he can usually be found lifting weights at the gym or watching movies with his wife. Mr. Voelker is excited for a great year at New Tech.
Brock Hesse- Physics, AP Physics
